"Typically, I send the bankers a copy of my brochure and ask if they'll meet with me. When they do, I try to learn whatever I can from them about who their primary customers are (what kinds of businesses), then show them samples from my past work. I then ask if (a) they'll keep me in mind as a possible source of business planning help when they get such requests from their clients; and (b) if they can think of anybody else for me to talk with. That's been very helpful."
